For CCAP rip-line preparation on a 1 hectare mahangu plot — what spacing has worked for others? Extension officer said 90×30 but neighbour swears by 75×25 and got better yields last season.

The 90×30 spacing is the CCAP standard and what the long-term trials at MAWLR research stations have validated. The 75×25 figure your neighbour uses gives higher plant density which can help in very good rainfall years but loses the moisture-capture advantage in dry seasons. Stick with 90×30 unless your rainfall is unusually reliable.

Agree with Maria. Tried 75×25 in 2023 — good year, good yield. Tried it again in 2024, lost the crop. Back to 90×30.
